1983 – plants his first grow. Soon after, he begins experimenting with mixing his own nutrients.
1999 – BigMike founds Advanced Nutrients, the first-ever cannabis-specific hydroponic nutrients company.
2000
1999-2002 – The company launches Grow, Micro, Bloom, Sensi A&B, Connoisseur A&B, Bud Ignitor, Overdrive, B-52, Final Drive, Voodoo Juice, Revive, pH-Up, pH-Down, Carboload, Bud Blood.
2002 – Big Bud, Sensizym, Tarantula, Piranha, and Sensi Cal-Mag Xtra, are introduced. Not long after, Big Bud becomes one of the most popular bloom boosters on the market
2004 – Advanced Nutrients becomes the first nutrient company to partner with a university, teaming up with the University of Mississippi to research the cannabis plant’s true genetic potential.
2005 – Tasty Terpenes™ (previously known as Nirvana) debuts on the market, providing organic growers with an all-natural solution for boosting their flowers.
2008 – The game changes with the arrival of new solutions for bud potency (Rhino Skin) and better taste (Bud Candy). Today, Bud Candy is the industry’s leading horticultural carbohydrates formula.
2009 – In conjunction with his team of 25 PhD scientists, BigMike invents pH Perfect Technology, the only formula in existence that automatically adjusts the pH levels of a cannabis harvest.
Bud Factor X and Kushie Kush also join the roster of Advanced Nutrients Products.
2010
2014 – Advanced Nutrients launches its nonprofit.
2017 – Advanced Nutrients receives OIM-CFDA and OMRI certifications, passing the most stringent standards in sourcing and processing raw organic materials.
2018 – High Times honors BigMike as one of the 100 most influential people in the cannabis industry.
2018 – MG magazine list Advanced Nutrients as one of the 50 best companies to work in cannabis.
2020
2020 – BigMike founds Advanced Hemp, the first and only company created specifically to unlock the true genetic potential of the hemp plant.
2021 – Advanced Nutrients open Barcelona office to produce nutrients for the international market.
2021 – Advanced Nutrients launches Commercial line with inaugural product – Sensi Grow & Bloom base nutrient powders.
2022 – Advanced Nutrients creates Cultivation Advisory Team to offer full service, custom nutrient solutions to commercial growers.
2022 – BigMike launches Voodoo Juice® Plus, a 3-in-1 quick dissolving tablet unleashing an entire ecosystem of 10 billion CFU’s of Benificial Bacteria nd Fungi.
2022 – Advanced Nutrients wins the Manufacturing Excellence Award for Operational Excellence from the Association of Washington Business (AWB), recognizing the company’s outstanding upgrades to manufacturing processes, automation efficiencies, and reduced environmental impact.
2023 – Advanced Nutrients sponsors the publication of the Cannabis Cultivation Instructions (CCI) textbook, also known as the CCI Black Book, which provides the industry’s most comprehensive, science-backed guide to growing 3-4 lbs of world-class cannabis per light at scale.
2023 – Advanced Nutrients expands its European offerings with the release of Sensi Terra, a high-performance nutrient solution tailored specifically for traditional soil growers across the continent.
2024 – Advanced Nutrients launches the Organic Grow Your Own Kit in the German market, providing European home growers with a simple, all-in-one solution for cultivating premium organic cannabis. The company also receives the coveted Best Nutrients of 2024 award at the International Cannabis Awards (ICA), cementing its position as the world’s leading cannabis nutrient brand.
2024 – The company introduces Coco Cultivator substrates in Europe, marking a major step forward in providing fully integrated cultivation systems for coco-based growers in the region. This launch signals Advanced Nutrients’ ongoing commitment to international innovation and grower success.
2025 – Advanced Nutrients introduces SB1™ (Sensi Boost™ 1), a cutting-edge additive featuring NanoCarb™ and Phyto-Sacchara™ technology to drive direct sugar uptake. This innovation enables growers to produce heavier, terpene-rich, resin-loaded cannabis with enhanced flavor, aroma, and bag appeal.
The company also rolls out its 8th Generation Nutrients, the most advanced formulations in its history, reinforcing its leadership in yield-boosting, quality-enhancing nutrient science. That same year, Advanced Nutrients earns the prestigious ICA Best Nutrients Award (USA) 2025, recognizing the brand as the top nutrient company in the American cannabis market and underscoring its unmatched reputation for results.
